Milton Glaser is a legendary designer and creative thinker. He’s famous for his I ❤ NY logo, co-founding New York Magazine and many others. Recently, he released a psychedelic poster for MAD MEN’s last season.

I was intrigued by the poster but wanted to know his thought process. The following video is pure words of wisdom.

“I move things around until they look right, that’s as good of a definition of graphic design that I could come up with”

“Anything I have discovered has come through the act of making things. The act itself is the path to discovery”

“Success drives you into repetition, and repetition drives you towards immunity”

“People who are serious about their work move towards what they don’t know. That takes them out out their expertise and puts them where there’s a sense of jeopardy and where they don’t understand what they’re doing.”

“Most significant works come out of misunderstanding because you don’t know what you’re doing, but the path to attempt to understand is what you’re looking for”

“The path by which you arrive to understanding is the point of the game, not the arrival.”

Amen Milton.
And happy Friday to all!
