Breaking in the Ad world

You all know by now that breaking in the ad world is tough. Everyone has a story to tell, but we all know that sending a plain old resume and wait just doesn’t cut it. You gotta think outside the box and find a way to stand out. Whether you’re a creative, a planner or in media, you have to make yourself stand out.

Some people go the extra mile; some do it in a gimmicky way, some even pull stunts but I’d say that the most important thing is to HAVE A SOLID PORTFOLIO. Doing something crazy will make you stand out but if your work is not good, it’ll make you stand out as the guy to NOT hire. You don’t want that, so make sure your work is solid and prepare well before trying to pull something crazy.

Here are some examples that people did and got a job, but notice that they are all simple and clever. Which one is your favorite and why?
